Positive: We booked Poppy Place at Gîtes Le Chézeau for a short break and were genuinely impressed. Everything felt thoughtfully done, from the recently renovated interior to the way the space flows both indoors and out. It manages to feel modern without losing its charm, which isn’t easy to pull off. What really sets it apart are the shared facilities — the snooker barn in particular was a brilliant surprise and added a lot to our stay. Even with limited time, there was plenty to enjoy, and it’s clear this would be a fantastic spot for a longer summer stay, especially with the heated pool. The location is practical and peaceful: just a few minutes from the A20, yet surrounded by countryside. We spent time in La Souterraine and also discovered an excellent pizza place in a nearby village — a real highlight after a day out. Hosting was spot on. John and Michelle struck the perfect balance of being welcoming and available while letting us enjoy the space. A well-run gîte with character, great facilities, and a relaxed atmosphere — somewhere we’d happily return to and recommend to others.
