Casa Ohana is an exquisite brand new villa ideal for large families or groups up to 7 people (6 adults comfortably). Downstairs is a queen bedroom with a full bathroom. Upstairs holds an additional full bathroom and two additional bedrooms: 1 king size canopy bed and 3 individual/twin sized beds. One individual air mattress is also available and on site. Floor to ceiling windows are located throughout the air-conditioned bedrooms and common areas providing natural light and a perfect view for spectators to observe the tropical birds, trees, and flowers of Tulum.

Tulum FAQ:
#Weather

Will it rain? Hurricane season on the Riviera Maya runs from June 1 through November 30. The highest risk of storm activity is historically between August and October. The good news is, hurricanes are fairly rare. However, daily off-and-on showers are to be expected year-round. It is a tropical environment. Just because your weather forecast predicts rain doesn’t mean your day will be washed out. In the Caribbean, even during rainfall, it remains pleasantly warm and is typically short lasting.

#Exchange
Dollars or pesos?

While US dollars are widely accepted in and around the Riviera Maya, using them opens you up to get the worst possible exchange rate. Therefore, using Mexican currency is highly recommended. So how do you get pesos? You can visit your home bank and allow them to make the conversion. You can visit any one of the numerous currency exchange booths or stores located all over the region, including the airport. But you generally get the best exchange if you simply use your ATM card at a trusted ATM machine. By “trusted”, we suggest inside a bank or major supermarket where surveillance is in place for safety reasons.

#Safety

While we encourage our guests to practice the same level of caution they would use in any other foreign country, the biggest threat most tourists are susceptible to are scams. Easy tips to avoid being a victim of scams would be to refrain from using a credit card, specifically at gas pumps or paying for taxi fares. Credit cards are just a simple way for tourists to get ripped off. As always, agree on prices for any trade of service or goods in advance. If you decide to rent a car, be sure to take pictures on your cellphone of the entire car (both inside and outside) noting any previous damages. This will protect you from the risk of being overcharged as this is sadly a common scam as well.

-Getting Around

Although many choose to bike around Tulum, it’s best to rent a car or scooter. Taxis and buses are available. Concierge may arrange private transportation upon request.

#ADO Bus

* The ADO bus is the cheapest option but not the most time-efficient one. Tickets can be purchased just outside the terminal or online.

* Estimated travel time: 2 hours and 30 minutes.

#Shuttle

Private transfer is available for one way or round-trip service. These are generally vans, they wait outside the terminal with your name on a placard to take you straight from the airport to your accommodations. Quick beer, liquor and snack stops are generally available on request. Concierge will happily arrange a private transfer if requested in advance.

#Car Rental

Rental cars are available. Common major US companies are available in the airport. Local companies are also available.

#Taxis

Taxis are available and are especially expensive from the airport, but very readily available. It’s recommended to discuss the fare before getting in the taxi. Always agree on the price in advance. We cannot offer taxi quotes as the rates are extremely variable based on impact of high/low season, number of passengers, etc.
